WORKSHOP 1: Skill Building for Mentors
In this foundational course, you will learn what it means to be a mentor in the Engage Mentoring program.
Topics include:
- Definition of mentoring
- Roles and responsibilities
- Defining your expertise
- Framework for successful relationships
- Tips for mentors
- Common mentoring pitfalls
WORKSHOP 2: Developing Your Mentoring Strategy
This is the foundational course for being a mentee in the Engage Mentoring program.
In this course you will learn about:
- Creating a mentoring strategy
- Aligning goals with mentoring topics
- Building a “personal board of directors”
- Preparing for mentoring sessions
- Tips for mentees
WORKSHOP 3: Learning to lead Through Mentoring
This course is based on the book Learning to Lead Through Mentoring: 8 Mentoring Lessons to Help You Pursue Meaningful Mentoring Relationships by Alison Martin. Alison is the Founder and CEO of Engage Mentoring.
In this course, you will:
- Review 8 mentoring lessons to help you pursue meaningful mentoring relationships
- Answer reflection questions related to each lesson
- You will likely need about 30 minutes to complete the reflection questions.
WORKSHOP 4: Propelling Your Career with Mentors and Sponsors
This course builds on concepts from Developing Your Mentoring Strategy. You will be encouraged to consider ways to manage your current relationships and cultivate new relationships with others who can help you grow and become a better leader.
In this course, you will learn how to:
- Be intentional when cultivating relationships to propel your career
- Find and cultivate relationships both inside and outside of this program
- Dispel some mentoring myths
- Avoid common mentoring pitfalls
WORKSHOP 5: Networking with Intention
Developing relationships through networking is important throughout your career.
In this course, you will:
- Gain a clear understanding of why networking is important
- Set goals for what you want your networking to accomplish
- Understand how to leverage strategic networking
- Understand how to leverage social media for networking
- Solidify an effective introduction that is compelling
